1. Anthony’s Italian Restaurant

For appetizers, salads, pizza, pasta dishes, and more, visit Anthony’s. Start with an order of the bruschetta or the fried cheese ravioli. Then add a grilled chicken salad or a soup and salad combo. For pasta, we like the manicotti, the spinach ravioli, the tortellini alla panna, the eggplant rollatini, or the pasta trio. They also have excellent New York-style pizza: try the alfredo, the veggie lovers, or the Anthony’s special.

For the young ones, they have lasagna, manicotti, baked ziti, spaghetti with meatballs, chicken ravioli, and more. Finish your meal with the tiramisu, the limoncello mascarpone cake, or the chocolate eruption cake. They are open every day except for Monday, and they are located at 3115 Cavanaugh Rd.

2. Calico County

This locals’ favorite has provided down-home cooking for the community since 1984. For lunch or dinner, we recommend the chicken-fried steak sandwich, the grilled BLT, the mushroom and mozzarella burger, the chicken strip dinner, Effey May’s meatloaf, Genne Lee’s vegetable special, or Granny’s fresh crispy catfish. They also have nearly two dozen sides, like black-eyed peas, fried okra, corn, mashed potatoes, and baked squash.

Be sure to ask about their daily specials as well. For the kids, order the fried cheese stick dinner, the vegetable plate, the hamburger meal, or the fried shrimp dinner, to name a few. Kids eat for just $1.99 after 4 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday. And don’t forget that they serve breakfast as well. Find Calico County at 2401 S. 56th St. seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

3. George’s Restaurant

Best known for its tasty burgers, this family-owned establishment has been in business since 1982. They also serve appetizers, salads, sandwiches, wraps, steak, chicken, and more. For the kids, order the chicken strips, corn dog, spaghetti with red sauce, grilled cheese, mac and cheese, or frito chili pie. For the adults, try the jalapeno burger, salmon burger, patty melt, catfish fillet dinner, or Greek spaghetti.

If you’re a vegetarian, you’ll like the veggie burger, the Nick the Greek wrap, or the Warmack spaghetti. George’s is located at 2120 Grand Ave. and is open every day with the exception of Sunday.
