3 Reasons to Get Excited About the New 2021 Chevy Colorado

The 2021 Chevy Colorado is great for when you don't want the bulkiness and expense of a larger pickup, but still want powerful hauling and towing capacity. Featuring a practical interior and your choice of three hard-working engines, the Colorado is sure to meet your workday needs. Perhaps this is why it was a 2020 Kelly Blue Book Best Buy. This year features a few new appearance options and some cosmetic changes. more Power Of course, the number one reason to get a Colorado is power. With three engines to choose from, you've got plenty of high powered options. The smallest is the 2.5 Liter four-cylinder, which gets you 200 horsepower and 191-foot pounds of torque. It features a 3,500 pounds towing capacity and consumes 19 miles per gallon of gas in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. A little higher up the ladder is the 3.6 L V6, which generates 308 horsepower and 275-foot pounds of torque. It gets 18 miles per gallon in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. At the top of the ladder is the Duramax 2.8 L Turbo Diesel. Towing a massive 7,700 pounds, getting you 181 horsepower and 369 foot-pounds of torque. It is fairly efficient as well, consuming 19 miles per gallon of gas in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Customizability With four different trim levels and many available options, you can have your Colorado anyway you want it. The base model features the most basic engine and comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, although it can be upgraded to eight-speed. It features electronic traction control, and anti-lock disc brakes. Rear-wheel drive and power-assisted steering are standard. The Z71 features the 3.6L V6, and an eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. The higher-end option is the ZR2, which features the same engine as the Z71 but also has the option for the more powerful diesel engine. It features a 2-speed transfer case and gives you the option for a four-wheel drive. Some of the options on the other models are standard on the ZR2, like the trailering package and the off-road rocker protection. Tech Capabilities For its class, the Colorado features some of the best tech features out there. The base model comes with a seven-inch touch screen, while every other model features an eight-inch touchscreen for accessing apps, media, and more. The MyChevrolet app sets a new standard for remote access to your vehicle, featuring remote lock, unlock, stop and start. You can also locate your truck, and check vital stats like tire pressure, fuel range, and oil life. You can access the owner's manual right from the app, so no searching through your glove box when you have an issue. You can also schedule services, and set the options on the wifi hotspot. There are even how-to videos and trailer load calculators. Come see all this in person at Orr Chevrolet, featuring a wide range of new and used vehicles, a service center, and a parts store.

2021 Silverado Multi-Flex Tailgate Simplifies Cargo Management

In today’s increasingly competitive full-size truck segment, auto manufacturers are consistently looking for innovative new ideas to give them an edge. Horsepower numbers, max towing capacity figures and fuel efficiency specs between comparable trims from competing manufacturers is akin to splitting hairs. The margins between them are often so close, that it’s hardly justifiable to select one particular model over the other. So it comes down to the minute details—the innovative features and technologies that enable owners to truly connect with their truck and feel confident in their buying decisions. For the upcoming model year, Chevrolet engineers went back to the drawing board in an attempt to make the Silverado even more appealing to audiences who by now believe they have seen it all. In true “sit back and hold my beverage” fashion, Chevrolet engineers have added a new Multi-Flex Tailgate to the Silverado for the 2021 model year that is sure to make you the center of the party at any future tailgating event. Nearly a quarter of the way through the 21 st century, we’ve certainly come a long way from the days when tailgates merely served as the gatekeeper to prohibit contents from the pickup bed from spilling out onto the road. For more than 50 years, it’s true that consumers really haven’t asked for much from their tailgate. But in this new era of innovation and technology, you have to stand out from the crowd. Available Built-In Bluetooth Kicker Sound System The 2021 Silverado’s Multi-Flex Tailgate will certainly enable you to do just that. With a Kicker sound system integrated directly into the inner tailgate panel featuring two four-inch coaxial drivers and a waterproof amp, no tailgating event or camping trip will go without tunes. The system pumps out over 100 watts of power and is controllable via the built-in buttons in the inner tailgate. While its available Bluetooth music station is certainly a highlight, the Silverado’s Multi-Flex tailgate isn’t merely just for show. With six unique functions, the tailgate also allows for easier access to contents in the bed, enhanced loading solutions and folding out into a standing workstation. Simplified Cargo Management The tailgate’s six configurable positions can be activated via the keyfob or the two tailgate-mounted buttons. The first position, Primary Gate Access, is standard tailgate operation—the same way it’s been done since the early Chevrolet C/K pickup trucks. The second position, Primary Gate Load Stop, is activated when the primary tailgate is lowered and a smaller front section is raised to keep items from sliding out of the bed. This gives you more than two feet of additional cargo length, which is particularly handy when loading lumber. The third position, Foldable Inner Gate for Easy Access, allows for the inner gate to fold down, making loading and unloading cargo from the bed a far less cumbersome task as you won't have to reach as far. The fourth position, Full-Width Step, allows the inner gate to fold down into a full width step that can support up to 375 lbs. The fifth position, Inner Gate Load Stop, prevents second tier items from sliding out of the bed, while the sixth position, Inner Gate Work Surface, reveals a stand-up desk as the inner gate is opened outward. Availability and Pricing The Multi-Flex Tailgate will be available in early 2021 on all Silverado trim levels—from the Work Truck to the High Country. The 2021 Silverado is available with three different bed lengths—Short (69.92 in.), Standard (79.44 in.) and Long (98.18 in.). Pricing has yet to be announced for the Multi-Flex Tailgate.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is World’s Premier Midsize Off-Road Truck

When you think of the world’s most capable off-road trucks, the new Ram 1500 TRX and Ford Raptor immediately come to mind. There’s no doubt about it—these full-size pickups are at the very top of the segment for a myriad of reasons. While Chevrolet doesn’t yet have a full-size competitor to pit against them, rumors of a high-performance Silverado ZRX with a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine are likely to change that very soon. With the ZRX still in the planning stages, the bowtie brand offers another model that delivers unmatched performance and endless fun off-road. The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is the most capable off-road midsize pickup ever developed. For only a fraction of the cost of the Ram 1500 TRX (starting at $71,690) and Ford Raptor (starting at $55,150), you can experience the thrill of off-road nirvana in the ZR2. The ZR2 differs from the rest of the Colorado lineup with a host of exclusive heavy-duty components and off-road equipment built to withstand the most challenging trails imaginable. 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Off-Road Equipment One of these components is the ZR2’s segment-exclusive Multimatic DSSV shocks. Unlike conventional dampers that work by forcing a piston through a chamber filled with pressurized hydraulic fluid, the Multimatic shocks in the ZR2 replace the piston with a pair of spool valves. General Motors previously reached out to engineers at Multimatic to design the dampers for the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28—widely regarded to be one of the best handling sports cars ever developed. With spool valve technology, the ZR2’s dampers are both velocity and position-sensitive. They’re soft and compliant for highway travel and firm up and absorb big hits when catapulting over harsh bumps off-road. The ZR2 also utilizes both driver-selectable electronic locking front and rear differentials—something none of its competitors offer. With the differential locked, the ZR2 can make both tires on the same axle rotate as if on a common shaft. This is especially helpful when terracing up steep terrain and only one wheel has traction. The locking front differential can only be engaged in 4WD Low at speeds below 25 mph. While it will likely only be used in extreme situations, it will prove to be invaluable when turning back along a steep trail is no longer an option. The ZR2 provides an additional 44mm of ground clearance over the rest of the Colorado lineup with its factory-installed lift kit. Skid plates and rock sliders are also fitted underneath to protect sensitive equipment underneath from rocks and other unforeseen obstacles. 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Powertrain Options The 2021 Colorado ZR2 is available with two powertrain options—a 3.6L V6 and 2.8L Duramax turbo diesel. The 3.6L V6 provides a best-in-class 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. It’s certainly the quicker of the two powertrains, but the refinement, capability and efficiency of the 2.8L Duramax is hard to ignore. With its class-leading 369 lb-ft of torque, the ZR2 can tow up to 5,000 lbs. A V6-equipped ZR2 delivers an EPA estimated 16-mpg city and 18-mpg highway. Efficiency increases significantly with the Duramax engine to an estimated 18-mpg city and 22-mpg highway. 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Pricing The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 with the 3.6L V6 starts at $44,395 after destination and delivery. If you want the Duramax-powered ZR2, add $3500 to the starting MSRP for a total of $47,895.

Getting a Bearing on the 2020 Silverado 2500 Load Weight

In any version, the 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 is pure workhorse. No matter how you dress it up—from iridescent paint jobs to top-end Bose entertainment systems—the first question anyone will ask about this pickup is: how much does it haul? Let's explore that question and narrow it down to the clearest answers. more The quick answer here is the 2020 Silverado 2500 load weight starts at 3,565 lbs and maxes out at 3,900 lbs, depending on how you configure the truck. Chevy Guides You Through Myriad Configurations The 2500 options include five trim levels (Work Truck, LT, Custom, LTZ, and High Country), each available in two- or four-wheel-drive. There are also two different engines that can be matched to each configuration. Then there are 12 different options packages. Even ignoring the paint choices and accessories, the choices seem infinite. Chevy's configuration tool and your dealer can help you narrow down the choices for your specific needs. Two Different Box Lengths Available: Standard and Long Aside from the many package options, those focused on load factors are also concerned about box dimensions. The 2020 Silverado 2500 has two available box length options: Standard 82.25 in. and Long 98.27 in. Either bed can be paired with a regular cab, double cab, or crew cab. The Basic Model Work Truck Load Factor: 3,565 Lbs In its most basic configuration, the 2500 comes equipped with a 6.6 liter V8 gasoline engine with direct injection and variable valve timing. This produces 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque paired with the base-level, 6-speed, heavy-duty, electronically-controlled automatic transmission. Step Up the Engine, Step Up the Load Factor: 3,900 Lbs Even the basic WT trim level can be matched with Chevy's 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 engine. This version achieves 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. The Duramax is mated to an electronically-controlled Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. A tow/haul mode provides better control and cooling when hauling major loads. Auto Grade Braking handles downhill-grade downshifts to reduce brake wear. Basic Trim Hardly Means Basic Truck Even on this Work Truck (WT) trim level, you get a Trailering Package, Auto Grade Braking, Chevy's roll-formed high-strength steel Durabed, CornerStep rear bumper, and a touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. Functionality-Specific Options Of the 12 available options packages, seven focus specifically on functionality. This isn't to say that the other five packages (focused primarily on convenience and luxury) aren't worth exploring. They definitely are. These seven functionality packages are the most closely connected to the load factor question: Gooseneck Hitch Package Gooseneck/5th Wheel Package Advanced Trailering Package Snow Plow Prep/Camper Package Alaskan Snow Plow Special Edition Z71 Offroad Package A Plus-Size Workhorse for Plus-Size Jobs Even in the smaller of its two load size configurations, the 2020 2500 is ready to tackle the biggest worksite hauling needs. Whether you "only" need a max 3,565 lbs capability or need to step up to 3,900 lbs, the 2500 and its numerous configurations are sure to meet your workhorse needs.

Trolley Collection Fort Smith's streetcar history began in 1883 with its three mule-drawn railcars. Ten years later, two electric trolleys began operating, and by 1899, Fort Smith's lines were fully electrified and functioning with open-platform cars. The museum details the progression of these treasured streetcars, the timeframe when they ceased operation, and the important movement in Fort Smith that brought the trolley system back to life. In this collection, you'll find both trolley cars that are fully restored and those going through the restoration process. Because the Fort Smith Trolley Museum is a "working museum," you'll even get the chance to see the crucial work being done to bring these cars back to their former glory. On display are trolleys built in 1902, 1906, and 1919 that are undergoing restoration as well as the fully restored St. Louis Car Company-built car #50 and American Car Company-built car #224. You'll get to check out The American Car Company-built car #221—a streetcar body converted into a house! Rail & Rubber-Tired Vehicle Collection In addition to its trolleys, this museum is home to a variety of freight and passenger cars, locomotives, motor buses, and other related memorabilia. Donated by the Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair Board in 2004, a Frisco steam engine is beautifully displayed on the grounds as well as a US Air Force 44-ton, D-E locomotive built by General Electric. Of movie fame, a bus that was used in "Biloxi Blues" and "Tuskegee Airmen" is also included in the collection, and both a 1932 American LaFrance Fort Smith fire truck and a Ford Model TT truck used to peddle groceries in Fort Smith are displayed. What Can You Ride at the Fort Smith Trolley Museum? Once you're done browsing the various collections, go for a ride on the fully functional streetcars at the trolley museum, available year round! 2020 Chevrolet Traverse RS

The Chevy Traverse Is the Perfect SUV for Families

SUVs that come with a third row and the cargo space expected in a sport utility vehicle are popular vehicles. It isn’t common to have both space for eight passengers and adequate cargo space. The 2021 Chevy Traverse is just that. It is a spacious 3-row SUV for families and they don’t have to leave anyone home to get the hiking gear in the back. While this can be said for the Chevy Suburban and Tahoe, they lack when it comes to how they handle on the road. The 2021 Traverse drives more like a car than a truck or bigger SUV. It can hug curves and stop quickly while also offering the space for the family and the carpool. 2021 Chevy Traverse Specs If you follow the Chevy Traverse or the Chevy family of SUVs then you were probably disappointed to learn that the makeover that was planned for the Traverse for the 2021 model has been pushed to 2022. Due to COVID-19 the new features have not been added to the new model and will remain, largely the same as the 2020 Traverse. This doesn’t mean that 2021 should be overlooked. The Traverse is an amazing family option when it comes to SUVs. It is also quick on the acceleration. Thanks to the V-6 engine with a 9-gear automatic transmission, you won’t even notice all of the gear shifts that this vehicle makes. The cabin is quiet and not only keeps out road noise but also engine noise. The idle is so smooth that you may even think the Traverse isn’t even running. This is only complimented by fuel economy that is better than many of the similar SUVs in its class. The High Country Trim level gets 27 MPG on the hwy with the other trim levels not far behind. The cargo is spacious with room for six carry-on suitcases when all of the seats are folded down. This is great for all of the sports gear and band instruments that quickly fill up your vehicle. 2021 Chevy Traverse Trims There are five trim packages to choose from and some of the best features and options are reserved for the highest levels. The trim package that offers the best features for the family is the HIgh Country. 2021 Chevy Equinox vs Ford Escape: Which Small SUV is Best?

If you’re in the market for a new small SUV, chances are you’ve come across both the 2021 Chevy Equinox and 2021 Ford Escape while researching your options. On the surface, these two contenders for your business offer many of the same features that make deciding a tedious task. In hopes of alleviating the stress of determining which is the best fit for you and your lifestyle, we’ll examine what makes each vehicle worth purchasing. What makes the Equinox special? In one corner, we’ve got the 2021 Chevy Equinox. Starting at $24,999, this small SUV gets exceptional mileage at 26/31 mpg city/highway, offers a surprisingly spacious interior, and plenty of available trims to provide you with the combination of functionality and financial commitment that’s just right for you. Although Chevy won’t be doing a refresh of the model until 2022 due to COVID, the 2021 Equinox still provides a high-value package for buyers. One of the most appealing parts of said package is the interior, offering impressive space and style. Passengers can also enjoy a 7” touchscreen display featuring Chevy’s MyLink user-friendly infotainment system, as well as standard bluetooth connectivity and onboard Wi-Fi. If you’re looking for a safe set of wheels, the Equinox has you covered in that department as well. Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane keep assist are standard, and adaptive cruise control can be added for an extra level of high-tech protection. All of that helped the 2021 Chevy Equinox earn a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Worried about what’s under the hood? The optional 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine offers exceptional power while still keeping you from spending too much time and money at the pumps. How about the Escape? One of the top competitors of the Chevy Equinox, Ford’s popular small SUV has plenty to offer while starting around $26,000. Similar to the Equinox, the 2021 Ford Escape didn’t undergo a facelift as manufacturing was hindered due to the current pandemic. The standard 1.5L three-cylinder engine provides less power, but is slightly more fuel efficient -- estimates come in at 28mph in the city and 33mph on the highway. While the Escape is similarly spacious, it boasts far more plastic than any driver should have to endure. On top of that, it doesn’t offer quite as much storage space as the Equinox. The standard trim only provides passengers with 4.2” radio display and an AM/FM radio, meaning that you’ll need to pony up for an 8” touchscreen display with Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system, which comes with the SE trim level and above. The 2021 Ford Escape does come with outstanding safety features. Standard are the forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking, lane keep assist and blind-spot monitoring, all included in Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 safety suite. Those helped the 2021 Escape also earn the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s five-star rating. The verdict? With all of that said, the edge goes to 2021 Chevy Equinox. Boasting superior interior quality and space, a lower cost, more standard technology features and a beefier engine, the value lies in the latest iteration of Chevy’s small SUV. Especially with the mid-range LT trim -- the perfect mix of upgrades without breaking the bank -- you’re sure to get your money’s worth.
