At the top of the ladder is the Duramax 2.8 L Turbo Diesel. Towing a massive 7,700 pounds, getting you 181 horsepower and 369 foot-pounds of torque. It is fairly efficient as well, consuming 19 miles per gallon of gas in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Customizability With four different trim levels and many available options, you can have your Colorado anyway you want it. The base model features the most basic engine and comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, although it can be upgraded to eight-speed. It features electronic traction control, and anti-lock disc brakes. Rear-wheel drive and power-assisted steering are standard. The Z71 features the 3.6L V6, and an eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. The higher-end option is the ZR2, which features the same engine as the Z71 but also has the option for the more powerful diesel engine. It features a 2-speed transfer case and gives you the option for a four-wheel drive. Some of the options on the other models are standard on the ZR2, like the trailering package and the off-road rocker protection. The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is the most capable off-road midsize pickup ever developed. The ZR2 provides an additional 44mm of ground clearance over the rest of the Colorado lineup with its factory-installed lift kit. Skid plates and rock sliders are also fitted underneath to protect sensitive equipment underneath from rocks and other unforeseen obstacles. 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Powertrain Options The 2021 Colorado ZR2 is available with two powertrain options—a 3.6L V6 and 2.8L Duramax turbo diesel.
